Welcome to Far North Community Hospice
We provide specialist in-home palliative care—free of charge—for people living with a life-limiting illness across the Far North region of New Zealand. Our focus is on helping patients live well for as long as possible, offering compassionate end-of-life care and support for whānau in the comfort of their own homes.
Our hospice services are available throughout the Far North, from Mitimiti in North Hokianga to Taupō Bay, Cape Reinga, and everywhere in between.

What is palliative care?
Palliative care is a holistic approach that aims to improve the quality of life for people living with a terminal or life-limiting illness and to support their whānau and families.
At Far North Community Hospice, we provide in-home palliative care services that focus on relieving pain and symptoms, supporting emotional and spiritual wellbeing, and helping people live well until the end of life.
Palliative care is not just about managing physical discomfort—it’s about addressing the full spectrum of needs: cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, and practical.
Using a specialist hospice care team approach, we work alongside patients and their whānau to ensure they receive compassionate, personalised care—whether they’re in Mitimiti, Taupō Bay, Cape Reinga, or anywhere across the Far North.
Our support extends beyond the patient, with bereavement support and guidance for whānau before, during, and after death.
