Turning Donations into Free Hospice Services

Donating your quality second-hand goods is one of the most impactful ways to support Far North Community Hospice. Whether you’re dropping off a few items, clearing out a house lot, or contributing through a bequest, your donation helps us deliver free, in-home palliative care to people living with life-limiting illnesses across the Far North region, from Kaitaia to Taupō Bay to Cape Reinga.

Our two Hospice Shops in Kaitaia and Coopers Beach are stocked with donated items that fund the specialist care, equipment, and support we provide to patients and their whānau—at no cost to them.

Large or Heavy Items

Can’t drop it off? No problem. Our volunteer Lifter-Shifter Driver team can collect furniture, whiteware, or other larger items from your location. They also help deliver palliative care equipment to our patients, so please reach out to our team to coordinate a suitable collection time.

Turning Your Donated Goods into First-Class Care

Your donations go far beyond the shop floor. Every item we resell supports free hospice services for the Far North. Please help us ensure donations are “gently loved and ready for a new home”—ready to use, clean, and in working condition.

Items that cannot be sold cost us to dispose of, so we ask that all donations be thoughtfully considered.

We Love Rags, Zips & Buttons Too!

If your clothing isn’t quite shop-ready, consider donating cotton items for rags. Just remove the buttons and zips, which we also sell through our craft and haberdashery sections.

Your fabric scraps become something useful again, keeping waste low and support high.

Where to Drop Your Donations

We accept donations at the Take 2 Hospice Shop in Kaitaia during opening hours. Please deliver them to the back of our shop in Ward Street not via the front door. For our Coopers Beach Shop, please drop off goods on Tuesdays or Thursdays where possible. Our volunteers inspect, sort, and tag all electrical goods, then distribute items across our two shops—Please only drop items off during open hours to ensure your donation directly supports our hospice work.
